Traditional Acupuncture is a core strand of Chinese medicine and its ancient origins date back to over 2,000 years.  Acupuncturist believe discomfort, pain or illness occur when a body's Qi, or vital energy, cannot flow freely.  By inserting disposable, ultra-fine sterile needles into specific acupuncture points (of which there are over 500 on the body), a practitioner aims to re-establish the free-flow of Qi to trigger the body's natural healing response.  Evidence-based clinical research shows that traditional acupuncture safely treats a wide range of common health problems.  Although many people turn to acupuncture to treat specific symptoms or pains, many also have treatment to help maintain good health or to enhance their sense of well-being.

Herbal Medicine

Since its inception over 2,000 years ago Chinese Herbal Medicine is now established as one of the World's great herbal remedies.  Based on the concepts of Yin and Yang, Chinese Herbal Medicine aims to appreciate and treat the many ways in which the fundamental balance and harmony between the two may be undermined and the ways in which a person's Qi or vitality may be depleted or blocked.  Treatment plans are formulated around the diagnosis of patterns of signs and symptoms that reflect an imbalance.  A tailored herbal formula is then offered to help re-balance the body.  Today Chinese Herbal Medicine continues to evolve as a response to changing clinical conditions and to reflect the needs of our modern, demanding lifestyles.

Acupressure

Otherwise known as Tui Na Chinese therapeutic massage, Acupressure is based on the same principles as traditional acupuncture, in that it aims to optimise the flow of a body's Qi to promote healing and good health.  Tui Na Acupressure embraces the notion of balance and harmony in the body, and seeks to directly affect the flow of energy (Qi) by using deep therapeutic massage on acu-points and along the body's energy channels.  Tui Na Acupressure does not focus merely on muscles, bones and joints (like a simple massage).  It works with the energy of the body at a deeper level.  As the practitioner senses the client's body with their hands, they are able to assess the distribution of energy and affect its flow.
